Ashley is married, a mother of two, and just completed her Master’s Degree to become a PA...all while working full-time! She also has HIGHLY prioritized her health over the last few years...which has meant hauling her kids to the gym with her and packing her meals on a daily basis. She pretty much rocks

When did you start CrossFit?

January of 2015

Why did you join CrossFit?

“I started mainly because of my husband and my weight. I was very overweight and I needed to change. My husband had been doing CrossFit for awhile and he kept telling me I could do it. I tried it twice, and each time it took me 6 months before I tried again. Finally, his encouragement got me in the door for good.”

Why do you continue to do CrossFit?

“I like who I have become through the life changes made since I started. I love the people and the workouts, oh and my husband won’t let me quit 😂 Just kidding.”

What has been the biggest benefit for you of doing CrossFit?

“Self-confidence! Not so much body image (though this is also nice) as much as realizing I can do things I never thought I could. Like run, at all! Before CrossFit, I had never even ran more than a block. I still remember the day and the workout where I ran 400 meters without stopping, that was huge for me!”

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

“A whole bunch of crazy friends! Also it is nice to share this with my husband, something we can do together.”

What do you think is the biggest misconception about CrossFit?

“That it’s too hard, too crazy for any “normal” person.”

What would be the one reason you would tell a friend to try CrossFit?

“You will surprise yourself in what you can do that you thought you couldn’t. It’s amazing how hard you will push yourself with everyone else is cheering you on.”
